We aim to raise funds so we can have a large wooden sandpit for the children to play in and enjoy.
Generous Funding Transforms Harrold Pre-School!
Generous donations from three local organisations have transformed the outside play area of Harrold Pre-School.
As a busy and popular community group that provides pre-school education for children prior to them starting at primary school – we know how important outside play is and a fun and engaging outside play area is essential. Following generous grants from Harrold Parish Council, The Co-op Local Community Fund, and Bedford based charity, The Harpur Trust totalling £5,000, we have recently been able to transform our outside space with a new canopy which provides much needed sheltered outside space and conforms to Ofsted requirements.
Georgina Markham, says: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous grants received from Harrold Parish Council, The Co-op Local Community Fund, and The Harpur Trust for our new canopy. As a non-profit making organisation and a registered charity, we rely on the community to help raise valuable funds, so grants such as these go such a long way in helping us.”
“Our priority is to offer a safe and caring environment enabling children to learn through play using a wide range of stimulating and enjoyable activities. The new canopy is already providing us with invaluable additional space and easy access to the outdoors all year long. We have instant shelter from harmful UV rays during the sunniest parts of the day and the canopy keeps play areas dry and slip free during wet or icy weather. It has proved a huge hit with all of the children and provides an ideal area for numerous activities including painting and sand boxes.”
Commenting on the grant, Lucy Bardner, Community Programmes Director at The Harpur Trust says, “ Playing and learning outside plays such an important role in helping children develop their full potential. We’re delighted that our grant will enable children in Harrold to do this all year round, though sun or showers.”
Robbin Brough, Clerk to Harrold Parish Council says, “Harrold Parish Council is very pleased to have been able to assist the pre-school with this project to improve the children’s play space. It’s always nice to see the direct benefits of a grant in the community.”
